I've just moved a bunch of threads from this forum into other ones, because I think there's a misunderstanding about what this forum is about.

The News By The Rest Of Us forum is supposed to be for babblers who would like to write an original essay/article and publish it here, in this forum, for comment by other babblers.

It's not supposed to be a place where you simply post a link to a posting on your blog, or post a link to a news article with a quote from it and a couple of sentences of commentary - that's what the rest of the forums on babble are for.

This forum is for original compositions, by you, in article or essay format, that you would like to publish in their entirety here on babble.

Of course, posting news items and blog postings of yours are more than welcome on babble, don't get me wrong! I love reading that stuff, but it should be posted in the other forums by subject matter, not in this particular forum.

Merci!

Sorry about that. It was misunderstood by me.

So, if I were to not link and present this article here first as a query, it would be more appropriate then?

Also, where did the other articles go?

Best,

I love your blog postings, don't get me wrong! But this forum is simply for you to write original essays in article format and to post here.

But please do continue to post your blog postings in other forums! So, if your blog posting has something to do with Canadian politics, post it in the Canadian politics forum. If it's about a labour issue, post it in the Labour and Consumption forum. Etc.

I don't blame you at all for misunderstanding - I don't think the instructions posted on the forum are overly clear.

I moved your other threads to the appropriate forums, like the media forum, the Canadian Politics forum, etc.

Michelle, can you give a better idea of what kinds of "essays" are acceptable on this sub-forum?

Are ironic postmodern contemplations on consumer culture okay?

Or do they have to be fairly serious non-fiction type of news articles?

Or can it be almost anything?

Can we reprint articles that we have posted elsewhere ourselves?
