Like many other babblers, I'm livid about the Bell sexist-racist ads and in general about their decline in service and the useless "products" they push. And a host of equally brazen offenders.

But I thought it would be fun to think of products, service and services babblers have found exceptional or useful in many ways.

Disclaimer: this is not a "pro-capitalist" idea. Don't worry, I haven't lost the plot! But we do have to consume certain things, and it would be good for the planet if they are solid and well-made and meet our needs.

I wouldn't be able to live without freeware demos like Winamp. If I didn't have things like that, I would surely go mad.

As for real services I pay for...Well, it is a little old thing called video rental. When I'm not pirating, I DO rent them. I might rent 1 or 2 a month at most. Generally just bad horror movies like Killer Klowns from Outer Space or whatever else I find at Killer Bs in Whitby...But still, I need video access services.

My mother is addicted the Magic cloths. They are durable antibacterial cloths that can be used to clean about everything, and they don't require cleaning products. You can wash windows, floors, tables and counters with them. She has a few of them as you have to wash them regularly.
Before you think my mom is just a dirty person, my little brother has serious allergies to dust and various other airborne and surface borne particles (he has to be covered in controzone cream every day, his entire body, just to be almost comfortable...he still scratches everyday). He cannot enter homes with pets or that aren't cleaned regularly.
Granted, she still cleans the toilet with products and uses dish soap. Other than that, she says they are the most amazing purchase ever!

Your brother might try out a practitioner of "Health Kinesiology", which claim to be able to reduce or remove allergies. I have had some of mine reduced with similar techniques.

Also, Vitamin C is a great antihistamine, and good for overall health as well. Powdered C can be found for cheap (try the larger pharmacies, or online).

Some alt-health researchers suggest that cortizone creams will disrupt the body, causing longer term problems down the road.

You might also try a negative ion generator for general feelings of well-being and removal of airborne dust particles.

http://www.subtlenergy.com/allergies/cure_your_own_allergy.htm offers a free program that claims to show you how to remove allergies without the costs of seeing an actual practitioner.

I d/l'ed a copy a year ago. Haven't tried it out yet, but have experienced no problems related to filling out the form (and you can always invent your own information if you are concerned)
