Maybe I haven't searched properly but I found it wierd that there was nothing written about the recent Union construction trades negotiations and strike possibilty?

Despite what has been told to the media by Barry Salmon, the ex-NDP spin-doctor, all is not as it seems.

The Union workers have voted overwhelmingly in favor of Striking.

The Union's American Internationals having been doing all they can to con us into accepting a 4-year concession Collective Agreement and they keep interfering with our soveriegn Right to Strike!

This is where you can get some honest answers as to how things are being played out.

My IBEW 424 officers are continuing to politically persecute with bullshit Union charges.

Our Union forefathers are rolling in their graves.

Would it be possible to get a summary of the situation without wading through hundreds of posts in an online forum, please?

Sure. The members are pissed that the International is ignoring local concerns in an attempt to secure a contract.Nothing new here, the International functionaries will sell out their own mothers, same as any other capitalists.

Jimmy Hoffa may be dead but his spirit lives on.

I still don't know the details, but nothing about the IBEW at the international level would surprise me.

For example: Did you know they have no strike fund? Never had one, in fact? I no of no other sizeable union, Canadian or international, that can make that dubious boast.

This sounds similar to the CN conductors' strike of earlier this year, where the workers voted to strike and actually walked out, but the UTU international denied them strike benefits because of some technicality. In fact, the Cleveland head office even supported CN in its (unsuccessful) bid to have the strike declared unlawful in February.

Eric, is there a link to an article or something similar that explains the chronology of your local's situation?

Ah yes!... I do recall writing on this forum now.

Sorry for the late update for anyone that might have been waiting.
