Hmm. I thought you conservatives always blamed the unemployed themselves for losing their jobs.

So what is it? Do people lose their jobs because of strictly personal factors, or do they lose their jobs because of factors beyond them and beyond their control?

If you have to admit the latter you also have to admit that blaming the unemployed for being unemployed is possibly counterproductive.
