All but one party leader has responded to Make Poverty History'sfive questions

The prime minister is the only major party leader not appearing in a video prepared by a national anti-poverty coalition

"We went back and forth for quite some time with the Prime Minister’s Office media people. The final thing we got back was our questions were too specific and that he would do it if we asked more general questions ... The whole point was to get specific commitments from party leaders", says Dennis Howlett, Canadian coordinator for the global antipoverty campaign

edited to fix factual mistake

Dennis Howlett is the MPH director, not Stephen Harper's campaign director.

I work for a Jewish social service agency. Wasnt there a Jewish advocacy group (could be UJA or CJC) that has also made poverty a key election issue? If so why havent other faith groups done the same?

Beth Shalom Synagogue, the Edmonton Interfaith Centre, the Edmonton Interfaith Centre, Micah Challenge Canada, Mustard Seed Church, U of A Muslim Students' Association, Hope Missions...

Dion's answer to 0.7% of GDP to poorest countries is typical for the Liberals:

Stéphane Dion , Liberal Party
"Yes, I do support reaching 0.7%. But if I told you within ten years, I would not be being realistic...."

Socialist Norway delivers on its pledge to give 0.7% no and's, if's or Liberal butts about it.

Are you concerned about the level of poverty in First Nations communities and what would you do to address it?

Jack mentions milk costing $15 dollars at the one grocery story in a typical Northern community while a bottle of Coca Cola is $2 dollars. I remember seeing the same things when I worked in remote Northern regions of Ontario, Manitoba and Quebec. Prices were outrageous even back in the late 1980's and 90's. I saw native children running around with inadequate clothing in seriously cold weather. POverty among First Nations is a national disgrace. Our two old line parties - Liberals and Tories both - have created apartheid-like conditions for native Canadians over several decades.
