In two days we got more snow than we have had all winter!

Wednesday evening a tree fell on my electrical line and telephone line producing havoc.

A thingy blew on my electrical panel causing a surge of electicity to part of the house. It blew the transformer on the oil furnace and the TV reciever of my brother. Bloody Hydro refused to come until I had dug up an electrian. I did get one. He arrived saw the damage, telephoned Hydro on his cellular and they wanted the number of his licence, which he didn't have on him. so I had to follow him back to the village, pick up the needed paper, came home in the lovely snow.

Hydro arrived. Whew are they equipped to the teeth. Four men with swinging ladders etc. Anyhow I had light but no heat.

The Bell telephone guy came today. One man with a ladder that he lugged around. It took him about two hours slogging through the snow. I am back.

Did I miss anything?

Have you got your heat back yet? Why would getting the Hydro back not bring the heat back?

You guys always get it in the neck in that corridor -- Memories of Ice Storm, eh? We have very nasty cold winds, but no snow to speak of. The sun is also shining like mad, which to me is usually a sign that a cold wind's a blowin' through. The cats, however (who won't be allowed out until all danger of night frost is past), take it as a sign that spring has sprung, and are bouncing off walls, each other, and me in their desperation to get out. You should hear Minerva cursing me. Actually, Fang is behaving in much the same way. I'll be so glad when I can let them all out again.

Something on the electrical panel had blown which prevented the electric heat to turn on. ( I rarely use the electric heat as my house is not very well insulated and electricity costs far more than oil) The oil furnace didn't work because something had blown on that too. That involved two visits, one from the electrician and one from the furnace guy. Everything is back to normal. We were not freezing as I have a wood stove upstairs. Anyhow Wednesday night was not that cold.

Jerome, cold or no cold keeps bringing in birds. Tomorrow I will have to vacuum them up.

The ice storm was bad. 8 days without electricity. We did not have a good time.
