You must watch the footage from yesterday of Mitt Romney trying to relate to black people. It was Martin Luther King Day or, as GOP calls it, "Monday" and Mitt Romney - possibly the whitest man in the entire world - I mean, this guy makes Mike Huckabee look like fucking Snoop Dogg - decided he would seek out votes from the black community or, as the pollsters refer to them, "the last people on earth who would ever vote for Mitt Romney". Anyways, a couple of black women asked him to pose for a picture and he happily obliged but while waiting for the photo to be taken, instead of making small talk about the weather or ANYTHING ELSE decided that the best thing he could say was "Who let the dogs out?" and then added, helpfully, "woof woof." He was vaguely rapping this line, in fact. Now, to be clear: this song was not playing in the background or anything of the sort. He simply thought that the most appropriate thing to say in this circumstance was "Who let the dogs out?" And also "woof woof." Yes, because all middle-aged black women in Florida just love some shitty song from like 5 years ago so much that if you quote it's lyrics, they will vote for you. I mean WHAT THE FUCK? Who let the dogs out? That's teh best shit you could think of? Whenever you meet a random black person you think you can bond with them by saying "Who let the dogs out?" THAT is how you're gonna relate to them? I mean, yes, Mitt, by all means. Quote shitty 5 year old lyrics and they'll think you're one of tehm instead of some middle-aged Mormon Republican candidate. Later that same day, Romney met other black people including a woman with a young child who was wearing a necklace. Romney took a look at this child's necklace and said "I see you've got some bling bling." Oh, you so gangsta, Governor Romney! Bling bling? New rule: Mitt Romney is not allowed to say "bling bling."

Anyways, towards the end of the day, it seemed he was getting a little carried away. He went up to a group of black youths and said: "Whaddup dawgs? I'm Governor Romney, but y'all can call me Grandmaster Mitt. Check it, fools: I got a totally dope plan to reduce marginal tax rates on capital gains. Fo' sho', motherfuckers. And did I mention that I'm a memebr of the NRA so I'm totally down with yo' glocks and shit. Afterall, the second amendment gives you the right to keep and bear arms jsut in case you ever need to pop a cap in someone's ass. But MC Giuliani, he's not down with that. What a playa hata. Anyways, homies, I got da experience to be a great president. Before I got into politics, I was pimpin' over at Bain & Company and let me tell you, we had mad beef with those motherfuckers at McKinsey & Company. It was jsut like bloods and crips, fo' sho'. Anyways, nice hangin' wit y'all but my secret service posse is calling me. It seems my beeatch, Mrs. Romney, needs me back at the crib. Y'all know what it's like. Too much baby-mama-drama. Peace out, playas."

Ok, he didn't say that last part. But the who let the dogs out and bling bling is all too real.

I'm sure you can find it on YouTube. Do a search on "Mitt Romney AND bling bling."

Here it is (note that there's lots of nothing in between the two incidents of racial insentivity).

Holy F&@k that way funny! Jones, you made most of that up? Damn, you need to write for The Onion.

I have to watch the video now. Damn, that was funny.
Romney, like all GOP, is an ass.

Okay, I think the people in the offices down the hall are probably wondering at this point why they're hearing hysterical laughter coming from my office. OMGWTFLMFAOBBQ that was funny.

I also love it that Romney screwed up so badly. I know one shouldn't laugh at racism, but it was that kind of cringing-funny thing to watch that video and watch him make such assinine remarks. Did anyone else notice that just before he made the "bling bling" comment, he said, "Wha's happenin'?" Uh, nothin', yo.

It's bad, it's racist, but do you suppose his intentions are good? I can't tell...

His intention is to get elected. And that to me would really be a road to hell.

Of course they are. I mean, he's not TRYING to offend people - he's campaigning!

His intent really isn't the point. It generally isn't when it comes to racism.

He just doesn't know any better. A pathetic bumbling facade is all he could manage.

I see that. I wouldn't fail to label it racism because of his intentions, or let him off for having good intentions, but I'm a little more sympathetic to a character who is genuinely trying to improve his image and his relationship with people he isn't used to being face to face with.

Clearly he's completely ignorant, and maybe I'm getting soft, but I liken it to that kid on the playground who's new or awkward or both desperately trying to say the right things to fit in. But I don't know the guy, so I don't know.

"Objectively", someone needs to get him a muzzle for his big racist mouth. If he thinks that'll get him votes, he's got another thing coming. He could make his image worse.

A very good reason why he is not fit to run a country. People he's not used to being face to face with? Where the hell did he come from? Mitt Romney gets no break from me. He is a total racist ass. Plain and simple.

Yeah, he grew up in Michigan and then lived in Boston. Pretty ethnically diverse states.

I'm not prepared to chalk it up to racism, though. He just reminds me of that boring, middle-aged teacher everyone once had who was trying way too hard to be liked and was prone to saying things like "How bout these baggy pants the kids are wearing today? They're pretty funky fresh, are tehy not?"

I think the people he was trying to campaign with were laughing, not because he was charming, but because he was soooo laaaaame it was ridiculous and kind of painful in a "wow you're a dork" sort of way.

You have to wonder if the electorate of Massachusetts has a wicked sense of humour? In the past two decades they've given the US the following presidential candidate:

Mike Dukakis
Paul Tsongas
Mitt Romney
John Kerry

Four, count them, four, presidential candidates all of whom act like pod people from the Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

They gave us Paul Cellucci. I didn't think it was funny at all.

I that the line from the second season of the West Wing sums it up best

quote:
"The Democrats aren't going to nominate another liberal, academic, former governor from New England. We're dumb but we're not that dumb."
"Nah, I think we're exactly that dumb," - Leo responds.
