Sir Mark, son of Margaret, will cop a plea in Cape Town in the matter of his alleged coup-backing in Equatorial Guinea. Several of the 64 mercenaries pinched in transit have allocuted and have received sentencing. I read a report that Sir Mark flew the helicopter he financed for the undertaking and pronounced it combat-worthy. This is the kernel of the case against him.

Bush is fighting a war on terror; Thatcher fits the description. Should he flee to the US as he indicated he would, he should be arrested and escorted to Gitmo.

This thread makes an interesting companion thread to the one about Prince Harry.

What a group.

Er, not really. Unless we can blame your mother for everything wrong you do.

Did we blame Jean Chretien for his son's criminal life?

No, although we didn't only blame son, either, or at least I don't.

Those two kinds of background and of criminal activity seem distinctly different to me.

Nope - better place for blame would be Michel's natural mother, the cause of the kid's fetal alcohol syndrome. But even that hardly excuses his long, disgusting criminal record.

What we can blame Chretien for are his ham-handed attempts at intimidating Corrections Canada into treating Michel with kid gloves.

I didn't say that she was responsible. I thought it might be an embarassment to her.

I'm sure it is - though she should really be used to Mark's shenanigans by now!

He wasn't knighted - he inherited his dad's baronetcy when poor old Dennis passed away in June 2003.
