(London) Alan Duncan, the first openly gay Conservative Member of Parliament has thrown his hat in the ring for the party leadership and he's attracting attention from all sides in the Tory Party.

Following Labor's sweep to an unprecedented third consecutive term Conservatives are searching for their place in British politics amid warnings the party is too far to the right.

It is a position that Duncan espouses saying that if it does not reflect the reality of a pluralistic Britain it will be relegated to the dust bin.

In a hard hitting speech he warned that the Conservative Party is seen as "socially distasteful" and "economically irrelevant".

"Our attitudes over the last 20 years have alienated an entire generation of voters, whose respect and affection Labor have ruthlessly harnessed for themselves," he told the party.

They say, however, that he's considered a long shot. Gee, ya THINK?!
