I know what democracy is, what freedom and liberty are BUT there seems to be a lot of disagreement about what feminism is. What is it? Is there a masculanism or maleism--perhaps there should be.

my short response:

feminism was started to fight oppression against women. to fight for human rights that was denied to women because of their gender. oppression and discrimination against women is, unfortunately, still an issue all over the world.

i don't see why there is a need for masculism because men aren't being oppressed, harassed and discriminated against because of their gender. there are probably some individual men out there being harassed, but in general, men as a class, as a group of people, aren't being discriminated against.

we've had this discussion before on babble already. at least once. try looking up a few old feminism threads.

Sigh. Do we really have to go through this yet again? In the feminism forum, no less?

Just a reminder, this was started by the same poster who advocated beating kids in another thread.

Yeah, I really don't think we need to do this.
