quote:

According to Dr. Al-Marshood, the two commission members approached the girls in order to "politely" advise and guide them regarding their inappropriate clothing.

Consequently, the two girls started verbally abusing the commission members, which then lead to one of the girls pepper-spraying them in the face as the other girl filmed the incident on her mobile phone, while continuing to hurl insults at them.

Good work, ladies!

Here's the conclusion:

quote:
The two females were then escorted to the police station where they apologized for the attack, were cautioned and then released.

While one may deplore what many will see as the suppression of Saudi women, it is one thing to answer a verbal assault in kind, and quite another to turn to physical assault, which pepper spraying is.

Many are fast to condemn the unjustified use of this weapon against demonstrators.

I don't think that two women pepper spraying cops is even remotely comparable to legions of paramilitary troops gassing protesters with tear gas, pepper spray, tasers and whatever else they can get away with.

If you can't see the difference in power than you really need to check your head.

I'd like to see the video itself before I judge what actually happened. One would have to see what the "Commission" officer was doing, really. In my heart of hearts I can't help feeling sympathey for the young women at this point.

That said, were this to have happened, one should note, they would still be in jail.

I referred to pepper spraying only. The introduction of straw men was unnecessary - as was the snide.

nahhhhh. fuck that shit. good fer them.

you introduced the issue of demonstrators, trying to draw moral equivalence between police attacking citizens and citizens defending themselves agaist police. In tis context, to be more accurate,to draw a parallel between police attacking citizens and chattel defending themselves against a misogynist dictatorship of slothful inbreds, governing at the pleasure of the western petrochemical industry. If anyone initiated rhetorical sleight-of-hand, it was you.

One has to wonder who these ladies were that they got away with a warning. The Shrub twins? One suspects that they weren't peasants.

oh yeah, also, in addition to looking up the definition of straw man you should make a note that snide is an adjective, not a noun.

bliter,

A word of advice. When someone seems to be attacking you, viciously, for something you don't even know you did, pay no attention. Eventually they go away.

By the way, welcome again to babble, and your contributions have been appreciated.

Give it up, minkepants. You are trying to make too much out of what followed from the rather mild observation of the second post.

My reference to "snide" was purposely done, not wishing to overdo it - and was in response to this:

quote:
If you can't see the difference in power than you really need to check your head.

Straw men or red herrings. Take yer pick.

On keyboard skills: I won't comment on your own.

Thanks for that welcome, unionist.

Back on the topic, I note that despite, perhaps, experiencing a certain degree of trauma, one of the young woman had the presence of mind to visually record part of the event.

It's not clear whether that record remained in the woman's possession on leaving the police station. I don't doubt it would fetch a tidy penny from a number of sources.
