There's an incredible amount of info there much of it understandable even if you don't know German.
There's another informative flash graphic near the top where you can find out results of every riding in the last election. Click on the map to start the flash graphic. Move the mouse around and watch the display.
Look at Bavaria! 3 ridings for the SPD and the rest all to the conservatives.
On the other hand almost all of the former DDR voted SPD.
