I suspect sooner or later all of the "free" webmail services will disappear. The old model of providing you with free webmail service in exchange for bombarding your screen with advertising isn't working for the various providers. And, all of these services are "SPAM CITY" and incredibly unreliable. I've seen webmail messages take a week or longer to get to their destination address. I've got quite a number of webmail addresses and basically I use them for things that aren't important...if they disappear...or become "pay" services I'm not worried.

Speaking of slime ball tactics to make money, I went onto Tripod US and was welcomed with open arms, offered 40 MBS of FREE storage to build a website, my site is pretty large so this sounded good to me. After months of work I had acquired 25 MBS of files on the site and they then emailed me and advised me that they had changed the agreement and I could now only have 10 MBS of space and would have to start paying for the extra, which they were prepared to give you in 5 MBS junks, so it would then cost me in excess of $30.00 a month to keep my site up and running -- and they wanted even more money for bandwidth usage - because I was now allowed 1MB per day and no more of bandwidth. Just to prove they meant business they went in and hacked my site immediately, deleting about 50 files from it and then shut it down for up to 5 hours per day until I paid up -- they even changed links on my pages so that they linked to a "this page cannot be found ont his server" message and a promo message to build an all FREE website with 40 MBS of FREE space on Tripod US. I have now moved my site to another server and left a message on my index page advising people not to build on Tripod US
