All honour to her.
I was a little taken aback to see on the museum's main page that Bernstein had been born in 1886 -- ! -- but if you click on her name, the artcyclopedia tells you she was born in 1895 -- still remarkable, but a little more believable. You can also see more of her paintings there.
This group reminds me a little of the Women's Art Association of Canada, whose history goes back to the 1880s but became a similar going concern about the same time as this American group. The WAAC acquired a house in pre-WWI downtown Toronto that provided studio space to women painters (still does!); it was also actively linked to a network of women's groups with broader social and political programs. You can read a bit about the Canadian group in A.B. McKillop, The Spinster and the Prophet (Toronto: Macfarlane Walter & Ross 2000).

Great website. Esp. because I've never heard of them before. The only North American female painter that I can think of is Mary Cassatt.
OTOH, it's not only me. We've only just started to learn women's history.
