I started a new thread because I wanted to specifically discuss what we will/should do about this Bell deal. This is one we can win, let's go. A friend and mine are going to write up a form letter/email to Bell and we're hoping that on Monday, everyone will flood Bell with complaints (calls, emails, faxes, whatever we can do). We will then continue a follow it up. I think that it is imperative for us to act. Anyone want to get in on this?? We're also calling on anyone currently subscribing to Bell to switch over to either Primus or Sprint, or another viable option. When Bell asks why, tell them it is specifically because of the "Pimptones". I'm going to do more research to find any legal precendence or jurisidiction (on grounds similar to "hate crimes" or "discrimination"). If anyone has legal knowledge or background, please contact me. Let's get this rollin'!

I just wrote to the address provided in the other thread([email protected]). Here's what I wrote:Bell: Before, the cut-up "offensive" body of a woman, demonstrating misogyny and violence against women. Now, PimpTones promoting misogyny, violence against women and racial stereotyping. What is wrong with you people? How hard is this stuff? This is totally repulsive. a current but maybe not for much longer customer

I haven't written, yet. I must confess to a degree of abivalence, or perhaps just plain old confusion on this one. On one hand, I've always felt personally repulsed at the entire hip-hop culture thing. And I realize that that itself would be seen as a *bad thing* by many here. But that's just me. I don't admonish or publicly criticize the afficionadoes, just inwardly *shudder* and try to avoid. That said, I find myself wondering how, or why I should be any more offended by or express any greater outrage at Bell than at the *artists*, the music conglomerates, the media or, for that matter, the (mostly) young people who blare this same disgusting crap and filth from their car stereos, their boom boxes, etc. etc. So there you have it. When some of you are done branding me as racist and ageist, kindly then help me understand where I should draw the line, and how and why.

That's true, but the PimpTones web site carries more than just voice tones. In fact, I couldn't find any voice tones on their web site when I was looking around it yesterday. Most of the tones I found were just bad midi music versions of popular songs, kind of like the muzak of hip hop. What I got a kick out of was that they had a "Christian" section of the PimpTones web site, where you could download ring tones taken from popular Christian music artists, as well as more traditional songs. And in a broader "religion" section, you could download Havah Nagila. I was amused at the thought of gospel-singin', word preachin' Christians, and religious Jews downloading their religious ringtones from a site called "PimpTones". So perhaps Primus and Rogers are telling the truth when they say they don't have those particular voice tones, even if they do get some of their product from the PimpTones web site.

If you're referring to "Pimptones.com", I found that a site-search for "bitch", brought up one graphic that says "Disco Bitch" on it. A search for "ho" turned up nothing but words with 'ho' in them like "howdy doody" or "whinnying horse", and one possibly offensive tone, "You got a pimpin' phone call". "Pimp" returns 3 hits in the ringtones category, all of them hip hop songs by Jay-Z, Eightball and Ludicris.
