I am wondering if anybody remembers fake student jobs created by Ontario Rail (I think). Basically, OR received money for jobs that were never in existence and then created student crews, one of which would dig a hole or ditch, the other would then come along and fill it in. Or something like that.
Or is this just another "urban myth."
I remember arguing with my dad about the hypocrisy of this. You have to work for your money my father would say! But dad, you are not really working because the word "work" implies the provision of a service or producing a product!
Just give the students the money to go back to school where they obtaining an education where they will eventually really produce something. And on it would go.
