This is a familiar struggle in Nigeria and internationally, which of course does not make it any easier or happier. I hope and believe that some parts of the UN remain functioning and effective in cases such as these. As concerned individuals, many of us can turn to the NGOs that will already be working against these judgements, and with good hope of success. In the longer term, of course, we are all hoping that the international community may come to deal intelligently with the severe distortions of all local cultures that have occurred in raped nations like Nigeria. That would be the very long term, though, as I read current prejudices, paranoias, and unholy alliances.
