Have you ever been there? You need to go there if you haven't and see if you like it. The north is not for everybody.

I was going to correct your spelling, but I see there's both Iqualit and Iqaluit.
What sort of business do you have in mind? 1-7's right though, it's a great place, but not for everyone. Some however go up and never want to leave.

There is no such place as Iqualit.

Alot of people arrive with all their gear bought in anticipation of the weather, although the locals might be more interested in something other than what's now available.
Personally, I think the best business anyone can get into up here is to promote the north and arrange with locals to take visitors out on the land to see the beauty for themselves. Traditional Inuit ways of travelling on dog team, staying in igloos etc. are what people like to do when they are up here. There is huge interest all over the world for such trips and it is also an excellent way to show just how fast the climate is changing and how the north's healthly climate or not so healthy climate is a good indicator of what's to come for the rest of the world. These are all just my own opinions.

to answer 1234567 reply. So what you are thinking is like a local travel agent/travel store would be ideal. Would it be difficult to find local guide? I can set up a local travel agent/travel store but what would be the best time for tourists? Would it be from July to October?

You're not going to get any support from me. I think its a bad idea. It sounds like you're business is tied into tourism, maybe eco-tourism? There are many examples of how damaging any kind of tourism is to the environment.

I've been told that Eskimo is not disrespectful, it just means meat eater. Inuk being the real word for the people. The Inuk word for white people translates to "fat, hungry and with bushy eyebrows" dating back to the trappers or explorers they first met.

Cree for 'eaters of raw meat' way I heard it, not so terrible but most Inu-it prefer to be called by their own prefered name now so I think we can respect their wishes on that much. If that's all they called us in return they were being kind.

So, I'm curious what happened with this. Wonder if Michael will be back to tell us how it's going?
