China had role in Yukos split-up

BBC News, UK - 17 hours ago

Rosneft now controls a significant chunk of Russia's oil output
China lent Russia $6bn (£3.2bn) to help the Russian government renationalise the key Yuganskneftegas unit of oil group Yukos, it has been revealed.

The Kremlin said on Tuesday that the $6bn which Russian state bank VEB lent state-owned Rosneft to help buy Yugansk in turn came from Chinese banks.

The revelation came as the Russian government said Rosneft had signed a long-term oil supply deal with China.

The deal sees Rosneft receive $6bn in credits from China's CNPC.

I think the Communist Party is upset because Khorodovsky openly supported the opposition. If he kept quiet, I bet Yukos would be in business as usual. This is nothing more than politics at play. It is more than likely the charges levelled at Yukos are bogus or overblown.

The China buy-in is another US dollar dump. They expressed interest in Alberta's oilsands last fall; they want to secure oil and divest themselves of US currency.

Has anybody noticed, by the way, how the "Pekos" of the Bourne Supremacy movie seems to be a lot like Yukos in real life?

The electronica music was fab and a rather fast paced bit of eye candy for sure. I got the impression that Jason Bourne killed that young woman's parents who had been outspoken critics of privatisation in Russia, yes ?.

Caught the tail end of a TVO diddy on tele today. William Right?sp speaking at Masse College. At one point, he described Easter Island as a closed experiment in greed. The islanders wound up cannibalizing each other in the end.
