I'm curious as to why he didn't just join up with the Liberal Democrats.

Has it got a name? (rhetorical question, it probably does but a) I haven't gone looking and b) it wasn't in the article)
Not too sure about it becoming "the biggest political force in Britain", or whatever exactly they claimed for it..

re: lib dems, their leader, charles kennedy, openly says he doesn't believe in the idea of class, left or right anymore. the lib dems are also in favour, as long as it's handled correctly, of P3 projects.
it's this split in the labour party between "old labour" members like galloway and some activist trade unions ... and the increasing "new labour" dominance in constituency representatives to the yearly labour conference that is such a problem.
galloway was threatening to resign his seat to force a by-election ... i.e. run immediately as an independent and give blair a bloody nose in scotland. i think that would have been more effective.

I've been amazed that traditional Labour has stood for Blair's neo-Thatcher policies, and then his Bush poodle act. They should have bolted long before now. There is really little difference between the three main parties. There is a need for a true left-of-center party. Then the Blairites can have "new" Labour all to themselves.

Maybe they should call themselves "Real Labour"?
I wonder if Cook will join with Galloway?

Does anyone know if anything became of the Daily Telegraph allegation that Galloway was in the employ of Saddam Hussein?
Was he exonerated or did this issue just disappear?

Most other news agency (aside from the Independant) stopped following the 'Galloway as a spy' story when it became apparant that the evidence against him was planted. The Independant only publishes negative opinions on Galloway, probably because he is an outspoken critic of the elitist takeover of the Labour Party. With regards to negative material on Galloway, the Independant doesn't seem to care where it's material arrives from nor it's authenticity.

I sincerely doubt they'd have him.
"Change the face of British politics forver?" I predict he'll fade into oblivion. Galloway has wingnut written all over him.

I'm surprised he didn't join the SNP. They're against the war, and left-of-centre on most issues. Certainly left of New Labour.
