i saw this article and felt some concern
"Third Russian uranium shipment to Iran despite Israeli warnings"

"Israel's Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni had on Thursday warned in Moscow that Russian nuclear fuel deliveries to Iran could be used for military purposes, Interfax reported."

http://wiredispatch.com/news/?id=9262

all right, so Israel is concerned about Russia selling Uranium to Iran, because it MIGHT be used for military purposes.

there is no polite way to talk about what the U.S. is doing.

spreading their nuclear waste all over the mideast, in the form of depleted uranium munitions. i don't know the exact number of shells. i know it's a lot. like the one shown in the thread about MDA & ATK.

when these munitions are used, they turn to dust; it is part of their armor-piercing characteristic. then the dust spreads all over the place. including Israel.

"the perfect weapon for killing lots of people."
that's how one organization characterized DU; i don't remember if it was Doctors without Borders or Amnesty International or another group.

Iran having uranium might make some people uncomfortable. but they haven't spread hundreds of tons of nuclear waste around the mid-East. neither has Russia, and their nuclear record is far from perfect and far from transparent.

if people are glad that one engineer refused to work for ATK, who makes terrible munitions, how about Canada (and Australia) not selling uranium to the US ? where the waste product is given to ATK, who then re-sells it to the US military, who spreads it ... all over the place.

few, if any, American politicians have the guts to speak a Single Word about Depleted Uranium.

so, if the American government refuses to do their job, it becomes a question of - who has the Ability to stop America from spreading its nuclear waste around the world ?

Too, Abdul_Maria, I think the Russians may be concerned about recent changes to American nuclear first-strike policy that didn't exist during the cold war.

And I think the nuclear arms reduction agreements post cold war era suffered a setback with the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan. Russian Generals were said to have been pretty excited with how fast the Yanks invaded Iraq after shock and awe followed by economic shock and policies to privatize Iraqi economy, and finally the new Iraqi energy policy drafted in Houston Texas.

The U.S. is the only superpower with its nuclear weapons stationed in foreign countries and seven seas. Clearly there has been no let up from cold war manouvering toward widespread peace dividends promised by politicians. Nuclear weapons have no legitimate purpose wherever they are.
