As I've said many times here I was writing a graduate history exam at le Pavillon Lionel-Groulx, very close to Polytechnique (just on the other side of the central building known for its phallic tower) on the Byzantine Empire... I was an adult student, and already had a long experience in feminist stuff, especially in the labour movement, so it wasn't a life-changer from that standpoint. It was more terribly upsetting, and took a few days to really sink in. The killer really took advantage of the collective daze of exam period, when we were all wandering about like zombies, them concentrated on physics and materials, me on analysis of various aspects of recent and long-ago Mediterranean history...

I think it's a shame to have two threads going on this topic at the same time.

Some people are going to see the one and not the other. I move we all move back to the other.

I was in the kitchen with my 1 year old son. My daughter was in school - grade 3. Today she is a university student, about the same age as those young women who were murdered.

Your question made me think and now I'm in tears and Montreal is my hometown which makes it all so much more poignant.

May they rest in peace.
