..and adulterers, too.

Jerusalem Post:

quote:
A Muslim lawmaker in [New Zealand] Prime Minister Helen Clark's government has said he condones the stoning executions of homosexuals and adulterers as prescribed by strict Islamic law.

Lawmaker Ashraf Choudhary was asked on a TV3 current affairs program Monday night whether he thought the Quran was wrong to recommend such punishments.

"No, no. Certainly what the Quran says is correct," Choudhary said. The Pakistani-born New Zealand citizen then added: "In those societies, not here in New Zealand."

Hmm. If what the Quran says is correct, then shouldn't it be correct everywhere? Is it a coincidence that this guy lives in New Zealand? I hope he takes a lot of flak over this.

I think the interviewer should have had some merry sport with this.

"So, you're saying the Kuran doesn't apply in New Zealand??"

"Oh, of course it does!"

"So then you're saying we should be stoning homosexuals — murdering them — because the Kuran says so?"

"Oh no, not at all!"

"So then you are saying the Kuran doesn't apply in New Zealand..."

I think it's that the Quran doesn't apply where voters won't like it. Which is perfectly OK, of course.

I'd be interested to hear what the Prime Minister does with him. For some reason, caucus discipline is on my mind these days...

I agree. I see this all the time in interviews, where interviewers let stuff like this go. I wonder why they do that? People should be grilled on crap like that, and yet so many reporters and journalists let them get away with it.

I suppose that making your subject look like a right ass doesn't help when you're trying to round up new subjects.

I always used to wonder why people let themselves be interviewed on 60 Minutes. Okay, so your toy company made a shoddy toy that killed 3 kids and saved you money. Do you really think they're not going to humiliate your greedy ass? What kind of disconnection with reality made you agree to this??

I was thinking that after I posted - if you get a reputation as a real nasty hardass interviewer, then you probably will intimidate people from being interviewed.

Of course, it's to the extreme with the White House press gallery - they're such a bunch of whipped candyasses there now that they won't ask ANY hard questions for fear of being locked out.

"Mr. President, would you describe the new funding cuts as 'awesome', or 'super-awesome'?"

Dylan sang that everyone must get stoned.

Nevermind.

The Quran doesn't apply in New Zealand!

Great, neither should it apply in Canada.

It's okay to diss the Quran.

Like it's okay to diss those candyass bible thumpers.
