This story is really heart-warming - and it makes me hungry.

quote:
AFTER a five-year battle, the fast-food giant McDonald’s has retreated from a southern Italian town, defeated by the sheer wholesomeness of a local baker’s bread.

I love this story - had read it in Italian papers and on the Libération site - thanks for finding an English version.

[Beavis?Butthead]Oh God, Italian food... hahuh huh huh-huh-huh[/BB] That was me actually - that little kid in the commercials running home for some Chef Boyardee ravioli. Seriously. Mama mia!. Pasta avec tomato sauce, vino and crusty bread are almost as good as sex.

Then again, Martin, a "Tight Max" with syrup slides down well with sausages and beer for breakfast, ya ?. ha ha I'm famished all of a sudden.

Sounds like they won fair and square.

If anyone wants to drive McDonalds out of downtown with some truly superior panini, I'm down with that.
