According to the lawsuit, Philip Seaton went to have a circumcision last October. Seaton said when he woke up from the procedure, he realized his penis had been amputated.

Now that's the stuff of nightmares!

It turned out his penis was cancerous, so there was a reason, but still...

This seems like the right place for this:

That's a hilarious video. But...I don't actually see how this is the place for it.

Well, not much you can say about a guy being pissed off about someone chopping off his willy. So, seems like a random "isn't that freaky" pop culture type of thread. And there you go, that's my contribution to the oddities column.

There was more to say about the OP? Suppose we could update the "Bobbit" Jokes file, the names can be changed but the song remains the same.

Ah, okay! I see now.

Yeah, it's true, this is one of those "odd but true" stories, isn't it?

I suppose we could expand the range of discussion about "willylessness", and give it a literary thrust. I have always wondered weather, Ernest Heminghway, in his blockbuster hit "the Willy Also Rises," meant for the main charachter to be Willyless, or simply impotent?

That is horrific. The man hadn't consented to that mutilating surgery, and had a right to accept or refuse treatment or seek a second opinion or therapeutic route. Doctors have no right to play God in such matters.

I'm a doctor and this strikes me as rather insane. If this is accurate, this physician should lose their license to practice medicine. You CANNNOT simply elect to perform surgery on an aenesthicized patient without getting their consent. This isn't a situation like where someone comes in unconscious from a car accident and you ahve to make immediate decisions to save their life. There's plenty of time to allow this guy to wake up, inform him of the situation, lay out the options and let him make a decision.

I hope this doc has good malpractice insurance cause he's about to be slapped with a lawsuit for millions.

Also, I'm wondering what the hell is going on here. Adult men opting to get a circumcision is INCREDIBLY rare. I mean, amybe he jsut converted to Judaism or something but this whole thing seems fishy.

Actually, there was an adult male on these boards once asking advice about getting a circumcision. I remember saying "Don't do it!!!" Strange as it seems, it does happen.

mm-hmm. I used to know someone who was 19 (this was back in, like, 2000 or so) and wanted a circumcision. So indeed there are people that do wish this.

Really? That's new to me. I mean, obviously if someone is doing it for religious reasons, it's one thing but it seems weird for someone to jsut get it. I actually ahd a friend who was dating a Jewish woman and was all prepared to convert until he found out that it entailed a date with the mohel.

Is this one of those Free Willy/"the penis is sacred and not to be tampered with" thread? My brother opted for circumcision when he was 18, not for any religious reason (although it wouldn't have been skin off my nose if he had) but because of a common enough occurence: the opening at the tip of his foreskin wasn't large enough to let the glans through when he was erect, risking gangrene if it made it through when half-erect and then couldn't retract. (Hope that spoilt someone's lunch...)

I, for one, have never denied that medical reasons do arise when adult circumcision may be needed, but if it's not needed, what's the point?

There is no suggestion in the story that there were no medical reasons in this case. (Indeed, the guy proved to have cancer, so he likely experienced problems.)
However,

The lawsuit also claims the plaintiff did not consent to general anesthesia.

Martin is discussing phimosis, which is far from rare. I knew someone who was circumcised for the same reason (but still has his willie). I also know one guy who converted to Judaism, and another to Islam. Yes, love was involved in both cases, but the guys were serious about their conversions.

I am circumcized. Its cool. Makes your willy look more interesting too. I recommend it. That said I have never known life without such willy, but I can say it has provided me with many, many, many hours of enjoyment.

Now, I'd love to hear this story from the penis' point of view.

Stories like this tend to bore me. But then, I always did suffer from Penis Ennui.

I can't believe no one's made the "'tis the unkindest cut of all" reference yet.

Seriously, and in this case ironically, I have heard of a non-religious case for adult circumcision in that circumcised males supposedly have a much lower incidence of, wait for it, penile cancer.
