Iain Duncan Smith has narrowly failed to win the backing of enough Tory MPs to save his job in a dramatic confidence vote at Westminster.
Mr Duncan Smith, party leader for less than two years, was backed by 75 MPs but opposed by 90.

The result of the vote, which means the party must now choose a new leader, was announced at 1859 GMT by the chairman of the Tory backbenchers' 1922 committee, Sir Michael Spicer.

Mr Duncan Smith's defeat, which comes after a day of drama as MPs took part in a secret ballot, will spark the fourth Tory leadership election in eight years, with shadow chancellor Michael Howard and former party chairman David Davis among those suggested as possible contenders.

I don't know who they're trying to kid. Blair has been leading the Tories from day one.
