The two men planned to kill 88 black people and decapitate an additional 14, said Jim Cavanaugh, special agent in charge of the Nashville field office for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The men also sought to go on a national killing spree, with Obama as their final target, Cavanaugh told The Associated Press.

It doesn't sound like they were going to be too successful. I just hope that someone more sophisticated isn't trying as well.

Yes, the actual threat to Obama was quite low - and the idea that they planned to survive a school shooting first without getting caught. Then again, usually there are only one or two shooters so it is possible that they could pick a school where no one has cell phones.

If Obama's popularity needed any more of a boost, I think he got got it

The McCain camp would have preferred if this story broke after next week.

If Obama actually beats the machines and takes the election, he'll be a well-protected fella. Might end up the most guarded president in history, if the amount of threats and hate mail he'll receive will be any influence. The threat to him will always be low.

Just like in the plans of these nutbars, it will be normal bystanders who will bear the brunt of this racist anger, and I would guess that it will be considerable. I hope police everywhere are considering this though it's hard to know what they can do.
