Lots of collective agreements have training and education fund clauses. This money is used to pay for steward training, all sorts of education for the members such as computer skills, upgrading, job skills to help them get into different trades or advance in the job that they have, scholarships for the members or their children, etc. Sometimes they are a cent amount per hour worked, and sometimes it is a flat amount per year. Sometimes it goes to the local, and sometimes to the national office for disbursement, especially if there is a merger or consolidation in the making. Sometimes it is a combination of the two.To say that this was some sort of 'bribe' is highly misleading. Obviously you have some sort of axe to grind. Not meaning to censor you, but why not take it back over to MFD where people might be a little more interested? I know that it's preaching to the choir there, but oh well.
