Stockholm this thread is offensive. Babblers can oppose and protest Canadian and US presence in Afghanistan without "having a soft spot" for the insurgency as you suggest. cut out the trolling.

I agree. I am one of those people. I totally oppose the Canadian and US presence in Afghanistan - but doesn't mean that I delude myself into the thinking that the people who make the so-called insurgency are the "good guys".

This is a war between evil and evil, hence there is no good reason for one drop of Canadian blood to be shed there. I'd sooner see Canadian troops invade Burma and depose the murderous regime (though i still wouldn't support that) there since at least Aung Sang Suu Kyi is a good person - unlike Afghanistan where there is absolutely no one to root for and every side of the conflict is equally horrible.

Please Mr. Troll, point out where one person here has defended them as the 'good guys'?

I'm trying to be preemptive before people start to fall into the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" trap.

Cut him some slack, after being held hostage so long he suffers from PTSD and can't keep himself from trolling.

It would have been useful to have included the source of this quote, in the first post, so that it could have been read in contex:

I believe the references to trolls and trolling are quite unneccessary.

Softness toward insurgents? Depends what they're there for. More than a few also see Canadian and other forces as insurgents.

What do you call it when someone accuses us in general of being 'supportive' of the taliban?
