This terrifying misrepresentation is exposed here in the Globe:
quote: According to product tags, one of its lines of shirts, called VitaSea, is made with a fabric that is 24 per cent seaweed. The company says the fabric releases “marine amino acids, minerals and vitamins into the skin upon contact with moisture.” It says the VitaSea clothing eases stress and provides anti-inflammatory, antibacterial hydrating and detoxifying benefits.
The fabric is made from a fibre called SeaCell, which is manufactured by a German company, Smartfiber. Lululemon charges premium prices for the shirts, which sell for as much as $59.
But the Times reported Wednesday that it had independent tests done one of the chain's VitaSea shirts that found that it doesn't contain any traceable amount of seaweed. The newspaper commissioned its test after an investor who is shorting Lululemon's stock – betting that its price will fall – provided test results to the Times.
