Some flunky lacking an adequate grasp of Microsoft's deep commitment to fair business practices innocently wrote an offensive license forbidding non-MS media formats on portable devices compatible with Windows media, the company explained to miffed anti-trust judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly during a status hearing Tuesday.

Microsoft had attempted to bully those portable music device makers hoping to cash in on iPod/iTunes popularity into using Windows Media Player software exclusively, or not at all, in their designs. This is a clear violation of the wrist-slapping that Judge CKK had administered at the conclusion of the company's anti-trust lawsuit, which she oversaw.

Hi everybody. I am still here in Brooks, helping my brothers and sisters get things set up after our newly won contract. I have been away from babble for a while, although anyone who has been through a strike will tell you that union reps work 24 7 during a dispute.

For those who supported us, I would like to pass along our thanks. We feel that it was a pretty good victory for human rights and respect of the workers. Although we didn't get everything that we wanted, we did achieve many gains in our first collective agreement. The mood in the plant is fairly hostile, with scabs and picketers having the occasional shouting match. However, many issues are already being addressed by the Union and things are improving slowly. Both the company and the union are working hard to try and settle down the hard feelings that inevitably occur during a labour dispute.

I was involved in this little saga from the certification drive until present, first getting involved as a worker at Lakeside 10 years ago. I was fired, went to work at a unionized competitor, and from 2000 on I have been coming here to help out. I may be here for a long time, serving the members who work here.

I would be happy to answer any questions anyone has about the dispute. My internet access is pretty limited, as I am working long days to try and get things like the health and safety committee, grievances, job postings, up and moving.

Again, thanks to everyone who supported us during this struggle with Tyson.

Could you start a new thread, Slimpikins? The other one had to be closed for length, but obviously this one is not topical. You can use the "new topic" button either at the top or the bottom of the page.
