Gotta love his upfrontness, anyway: quote: Former US ambassador to the UN John Bolton urges Washington to lay the foundation for an Israeli attack on Iranian nuclear facilities."We will be blamed for the strike anyway, and certainly feel whatever negative consequences result, so there is compelling logic to make it as successful as possible," Bolton said in a Wall Street Journal editorial on Tuesday. "At a minimum, we should place no obstacles in Israel's path, and facilitate its efforts where we can," he added.
From here, via Agbug at Kitco. Interesting that this is one issue where many on the libertarian right (such as the majority of the Kitco folks) agree with us lefties.[ 15 July 2008: Message edited by: Agent 204 ]

Thanks for posting those comments. For those interested, here is the actual opinion piece, in full. Remarkably, Bolton is actually critical of the Bush administration. He also asks: "What will the U.S. do if Israel decides to initiate military action? There was a time when the Bush administration might itself have seriously considered using force, but all public signs are that such a moment has passed." I suspect that Israel will attack Iran some time after Obama comes into office. Obama will then have a total shit shorm on his hands.

Obama is in the bag, as they say. He will not oppose Israeli government intervention in Iran, he just said publically that he would sent 10,000 more U.S. troops to Afganistan. Obama is turning out to be a wonderful hawk. Also, the Iraq withdrawal plan Obama has floated during campaign speeches is like an open bottle in a stormy sea, won't take much to sink it below the waves, never to be seen again.
